One of the things Divesh loves most about his role as Senior Director, Corporate Strategic Initiatives is that it gives him the opportunity to look at MCAP and the mortgage industry from a “big-picture” perspective. As a member of CSI, Divesh leads the research and development of MCAP’s Quarterly Market Outlook Report which is presented at Board meetings and shared with key investor clients. He also develops in-house models and datasets that enable MCAP to make data-driven strategic decisions. Further, he supports various initiatives that align with MCAP’s Key Strategic Initiatives (KSIs) such as mergers and acquisitions (M&As), development of new lending programs (RMBS), debt raises, and Open Banking.
Facts & Figures Inform an Exciting Career Path
Divesh attributes his success at MCAP to two key factors – continuous learning and the people he has worked with throughout his 7+ years at the organization. MCAP was his final co-op placement during his undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo and the Eclipse team brought Divesh on after graduation, where he worked for two years before transitioning to his current team as an Analyst. Throughout his career at MCAP, the support of peers and leaders have played a big role in his success.
“The Executive team and the leaders at MCAP have always been supportive and willing to teach me the ropes,” he explains, adding that an ongoing commitment to learning has led to his unique expertise.
“My role provides me with the opportunity to learn something from the ground up, with the right resources and support, allowing me to quickly get up to speed and eventually become a subject matter expert.”
MCAP is “People First” – Even Behind the Scenes
While Divesh is not in a broker or homeowner facing role, MCAP’s commitment to people affects his team and influences his work. For Divesh, the belief that ‘behind every mortgage, there are people’, is present every day and is the way Blue Culture comes to life in the workplace for him. “My role at MCAP allows me to interact and learn from multiple people across the different lines of business and seniority levels,” he says.
“The exposure allows me to continue to learn and evolve my understanding of MCAP, how we do business and how MCAP can continue to be a constructive participant in the Canadian financial system. ”
Although Divesh’s focus is on research and strategy, he aligns with the humanity of Blue Culture and values MCAP’s resolution to being a people-centric organization. “We aim to add value in how we conduct business with respect and sincerity,” he says. “I am honoured to work with highly talented individuals who care about making an impact and getting the job done well together as a team.”
