Mark Aldridge

Mark Aldridge was appointed as MCAP's President & Chief Executive Officer on July 5, 2018. Mark is responsible for the planning, direction and overall profitability of all activities relating to the operations of MCAP's lines of business: Capital Markets, Single Family, Commercial Mortgages, Investor Relations and Development Finance. In this role, Mark prepares, executes and oversees MCAP's annual business plan and long term strategic plan in order to optimize MCAP's long-term sustainable earning​s and value, while preserving its assets, capital and reputation. Prior to becoming President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark was MCAP's President and Chief Operating Officer since 2013. He was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 2006 to 2013. He was responsible for all aspects of the enterprise's financial affairs including financial reporting, treasury and capital markets. Mark also advised the Executive Management Committee and the Board of Directors on strategic initiatives, acquisitions and distribution of assets. Mark joined MCAP in 2001 as Vice President and Corporate Controller. Mark is a Chartered Professional Accountant. He earned his Chartered Accountant designation at Ernst and Young. He has a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours from McMaster University.

Brian Carey

Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer,

Brian Carey is Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer of MCAP Commercial L.P. Brian is responsible for overseeing the planning, direction, and overall profitability of all operations across our lines of business, including Single Family, Commercial Mortgages, and Development Finance. Brian is a member of the Executive Management Committee and is responsible for optimizing MCAP’s long-term sustainable earnings within Board approved risk parameters, creating long term value and preserving its assets, capital and reputation.

A Chartered Professional Accountant (CA), Brian joined MCAP in 2007 as Vice President and Controller. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Vice President Finance & Treasury in 2012 and then to Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer in 2013.

Prior to MCAP, Brian was a Public Accountant at Arthur Andersen and worked in the Credit Risk Management Group at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, and an MBA from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management.

Heather Baker

Executive Vice President, Corporate Services,

Heather Baker joined MCAP in 2002 and is currently responsible for overseeing corporate functions: Information Technology, Human Resources, Facilities and Marketing & Communications. In her role, she is accountable for the planning and direction of all corporate service activities that support the development of a highly successful and efficient organization. During her tenure at MCAP, Heather has held progressively senior positions in the Finance and Internal Audit departments and prior to this role was most recently SVP, Finance. Heather holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA).

Jason Wright

Executive Vice President, Capital Markets,

Jason Wright joined MCAP in 1999 and is responsible for funding and securitization activities relating to MCAP’s single-family and commercial mortgage originations. He leads the Capital Markets Group which is responsible for: interest rate risk management activities, third-party mortgage sales, executing various securitization transactions including ABCP, CMB and NHA-MBS, developing and managing certain third-party investor relationships and related reporting and compliance activities. Jason earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) at Wilfrid Laurier University and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Jebon Lok

Executive Vice-President & Chief Financial Officer,

Jebon Lok is Executive Vice-President & Chief Financial Officer at MCAP. He is responsible for managing MCAP's corporate and trust assets and liabilities, ensuring the company is in compliance with all its obligations regarding funding and hedging programs, and preparing the financial reporting for all its entities. This includes ensuring that financial controls are in place to safeguard the assets of MCAP and its clients, as well as adhering to regulatory financial reporting requirements and corporate governance. Jebon is a member of the Executive Management Committee and advises the Board of Directors on MCAP's financial affairs and results. Having joined the organization in 2008 as an Assistant Controller, Jebon has earned progressively senior roles over the last 15 years with MCAP to his current role leading the Finance, Treasury, and Middle Office groups. Having worked on a diverse portfolio of projects for MCAP throughout the years, Jebon thrives on the variety that comes with leading the financial side of corporate initiatives that contribute to the company's growth and continued success.

Jebon graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce, with a specialization in Management and Economics. He went on to earn his CPA designation and worked at Ernst and Young before joining MCAP.

Mark Yhap

Managing Partner - Commercial Mortgages,

Mark Yhap is the Managing Partner of MCAP’s Commercial Mortgages Group and is responsible for growing MCAP’s commercial platform on a national basis. Mark leads a team of professionals dedicated to originating, underwriting and servicing commercial mortgages across Canada. The commercial group’s growth can be attributed to the high trust relationships it enjoys with its customers and investors that was built upon delivering on its commitments. Mark joined MCAP in 1989, and has held a variety of positions encompassing loan origination, underwriting, investor relations, structured finance and fundraising. As seen through his different roles, Mark’s greatest passion in life is growth through continuing education and experience while being in alignment with his core values of integrity, accountability and servant leadership. Mark graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Martin Nel

Executive Vice President & Chief Risk Officer,
Toronto, ON

Martin Nel is Executive Vice President & Chief Risk Officer. In his role, he is accountable for MCAP’s enterprise-wide risk management programs, focusing on creating risk alignment within all lines of business. With over two decades of experience in financial services in Canada and Europe, Martin has a wealth of knowledge and experience in risk management, data and analytics and leading successful banking operations. Prior to joining MCAP, Martin spent over ten years as a senior executive at BMO, leading their personal and small business banking line of business. In this role, from 2009 to 2012, when BMO held an equity stake in MCAP Service Corporation, he served as a member of the board of MCAP Mortgage Corporation and then as the Chair. Over his career, he has also held advisory positions with regulatory bodies such as the CMHC and First Canadian Title. Prior to working for BMO Martin spent seven years with McKinsey & Co in France, serving financial institutions across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Most recently Martin worked as Chief Commercial Officer for Smart Data Foundry, a subsidiary of the University of Edinburgh, specialising in deriving insights from large private sector financial datasets. Martin has a Bachelor of Commerce and Honours Accounting degree from Stellenbosch University (South Africa). As a Rhodes Scholar, he also obtained an Honours degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.

Paul Bruce

Executive Vice President - Single Family Residential,

Paul Bruce is responsible for the strategic direction of MCAP’s Single Family Residential mortgage business. He joined the company in 1992. In his 25+ years at MCAP and its predecessor companies, Paul has held various senior positions and responsibilities including the oversight of Sales, Underwriting, Risk Management, Mortgage Servicing, Subservicing, Default Management and Mortgage Investigations. Paul is a key member of the leadership team responsible for Mergers and Acquisitions. In 2012, MCAP completed the acquisition of the ResMor mortgage portfolio (the 4th largest mortgage acquisition in Canada) and more recently, MCAP acted in an advisory capacity with RFA’s acquisition of Street Bank (the second largest acquisition in Canada). As seasoned mortgage industry executive, Paul has successfully led MCAP through acquisitions, expansion and changing economic cycles.

Robert Balfour

Managing Partner - Development Finance Group,
Calgary, AB

Robert (Bob) is responsible for the strategic direction and operations of the construction and development finance line of business for MCAP nationally. Development Finance services the Canadian real estate market focused on residential and commercial construction loans, value-added capital requirements (mezzanine and equity structures) and loan investment management. Operating from three offices regionally located in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto; the Development Finance group contracts with its Developer/Borrower clients to arrange financing on a focused & targeted basis. MCAP’s Development Finance group structures each investment transaction on its merits directing the origination to the investor clients best suited for the investment based upon product, location, pricing, capacity, developer history and experience. Bob has been with MCAP since 1994 and active in real estate finance since 1975. His real estate finance experience is extensive from direct lending, real estate brokerage (as owner principal) and mortgage banking with MCAP DFG. He is a licensed mortgage and real estate broker and is a past President of the Alberta Mortgage and Loans Association. Bob currently sits on a private Advisory Board , is a member of an executive peer mentor group and an active Rotarian.
