Meet the MCAP Development Finance Group Team: Susannah Boisclair

Susannah Boisclair is a team member in our Calgary office, and we had the pleasure of asking her a few questions about her experience and her team in a recent conversation.

Susannah, tell us about your experience in the industry

My career spans over 17 years with term and construction lending, which began with an analyst role with a national life insurance company in Winnipeg. After spending twenty years within the military family, I moved back to Calgary, which is where I grew up. My journey continued when I fortunately joined MCAP as a Funding Officer. And the rest is history!

How do you tackle difficult or complicated deals?

Teamwork is critical. Our no-closed-door policy allows for free thinking regardless of position – all opinions are valued and discussion with senior management is encouraged to help identify issues and uncover viable solutions.


How do you and your team stay motivated throughout a deal?

DFG team members pride themselves on supporting each other. One of DFG’s core values is “fun”, such as celebrating staff birthdays with donuts and having lunch boxes delivered during weekly meetings - staying engaged is a key motivating factor. Also, setting goals helps to establish and reinforce a sense of accomplishment.


What are some of the secrets to your success?

Boisclair: Our team’s success starts with support from the Executive Board, who recognize the value the Development Finance Group brings to our clients. With their support comes innovation – our team creatively aligns the business model with client needs. Our team members also work diligently to build internal and external relationships and are encouraged to explore beyond their current roles.
