For over 30 years, MCAP has been supporting families, communities, and causes across Canada. We strongly believe in giving back to the communities we serve, supporting initiatives that matter to our employees and partners, and helping Canadians realize their dreams of homeownership.
In 2021, our employees, partners, and homeowners came together once again to make a difference in the lives of Canadians from coast-to-coast through small acts of kindness, purposeful initiatives, financial aid, and many hours of volunteering.
Here is a spotlight on our collective impact in 2021.
Habitat for Humanity
MCAP has been a proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity Canada since 2000, helping them carry out their mission of helping Canadians realize their goals of homeownership. In addition to our corporate support, our employees, brokers, and homeowners all contributed to this mission in different and significant ways throughout 2021 to support Habitat’s Indigenous Housing Partnership, Every Youth Initiative, and The Family Impact Fund.
Employee Support Through our employee contribution program, MCAP employees donated $25,624 to support Habitat for Humanity. To show our appreciation of our employees’ generosity, MCAP matched every dollar raised for a total contribution of $51,248. |
Broker Participation Through our Importance of Home program, MCAP brokers had the opportunity to support Habitat for Humanity with sponsorship opportunities Brokers could choose one of four different sponsorship tiers, enabling a range of support from 34 brokers and/or brokerages from across Canada! Brokers donated an impressive and generous total of $55,000. With a companion donation of $50,000 from MCAP, the campaign raised a total of $105,000, $5,000 more than the campaign goal. In addition, some broker partners volunteered their time in 2021 to participate in a Habitat for Humanity Canada build day alongside MCAP employees. |
Homeowner Contributions Our Key to Hope™ program offers MCAP mortgage holders the opportunity to add support to Habitat for Humanity Canada directly through their mortgage payment. By making a regular, pre-determined donation, MCAP homeowners can help provide a solid foundation for Canadians to live better, healthier lives. It’s a simple and meaningful way for our clients to make a difference. |
Caring and Sharing Fund
The Caring and Sharing fund allows MCAP to support charities that matter to our employees. Designed to provide $12,000 annually to registered charities, the fund is a vehicle for MCAP to support causes that our employees are involved in and/or have a meaningful, personal connection with.
In 2021, we supported several charities including Montreal Children’s Hospital, BC SPCA, BACA Bikers Against Child Abuse International, Brain Injury Association of Waterloo, Canadian Red Cross, and many more.
Local Community Support
MCAP offices are located across Canada – from Vancouver to Halifax. We are dedicated to investing in the communities in which we work and are proud to support local initiatives. In 2021, MCAP and our employees supported such initiatives as:
Shinerama Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada and in 2021, MCAP supported Wilfrid Laurier University’s Shinerama campaign. As a result of fundraising efforts undertaken by MCAP’s Waterloo office, a total of $16,500 was raised and donated to the cause. |
Ride for Heart In 2021, #TeamMCAP completed 7,798.65km, raising an outstanding $23,593 and ranking second in activity among 310 teams! To support our community of MCAP employees and acknowledge the hard work of #TeamMCAP in this vital wellness initiative, MCAP donated an additional $6,407 to round the total donation to $30,000 in support of the Heart & Stroke foundation and their life-saving research. |
Habitat for Humanity Canada’s Indigenous Housing Partnership MCAP employees came together to host a golf tournament in Waterloo, Ontario to raise funds in support of Habitat for Humanity Canada’s Indigenous Housing Partnership. Together, MCAP and our employees raised and donated $10,000 to this initiative, which aims to create safe places to live and provide training to Indigenous families to help build and maintain homes in their communities. With this donation, we hope to help Indigenous families across Canada access home ownership. |
Holiday Giving 2021
To close out the year, MCAP was proud to run our Holiday Giving initiative for the second year in a row, in support of the local communities where our valued brokers, partners, investors, and homeowners live and work. MCAP donated to provincial Food Bank associations on behalf of our partners and clients in recognition of their support throughout the year.
As a result of the Holiday Giving initiative, 114,000 meals were donated to those in need over the holiday season in communities across Canada.
MCAP is grateful for the hard work and contribution of our homeowners, brokers, employees, and other partners as we aim to make a difference in the lives of Canadians across the country. We thank everyone who helped bring our efforts to life in 2021 and are eager to make an even greater impact in 2022.
